Irondequoit Bay State of Emergency Order # 1

A State of Emergency is hereby declared in the Town of Webster, effective 5:00 p.m., May 12, 2017.

The State of Emergency has been declared due to rising water levels along Lake Ontario and the Irondequoit Bay.

This emergency order hereby regulates the rate in which vessels navigating Irondequoit Bay can travel within the Town limits of the Town of Webster. It shall remain in effect until such time as the high water levels recede within the Town limits of the Town of Webster.

Any vessel navigating Irondequoit Bay within 500 feet of the shoreline shall travel at an idle speed and shall create no wake. Any vessel traveling beyond a distance of 500 feet from the shoreline shall not exceed a speed limit of five (5) miles per hour.

Any person who knowingly disobeys this emergency order shall be in violation of Section 140-5(C)2 of the Webster Town Code, and shall be punished pursuant to Section 140-14 of the Webster Town Code.

This order shall be effective at 5:00 p.m., May 12, 2017 and remain in effect for a period not to exceed thirty (30) days or until rescinded by the chief executive, whichever comes first.
