On Saturday, August 26th the Webster Town Board, Ron Kampf and his Board of Directors, along with many sponsors and hundreds of people from Webster and afar, watched the magnificent Grand Opening of the Challenger Miracle Field. We could not have asked for better weather and the day was just beautiful for the festivities. There were smiles all over on the kids, youth, and young adults as they got a chance to “play ball” on the new tuff baseball field at Ridge Park right here in Webster.
Once again, special thanks again go out to Ron Kampf and his Board of Directors for going from nothing to $1.9 million to build this Field of Dreams right here in Webster. This is only the third such field in all of New York State. If Saturday was any indication of what the future will hold, this field will bring smiles to many faces and I could not be any happier for the families that will be using this field in the years to come.
There is still more to come to the Challenger Miracle Field with a new restroom and playground to be built after more fundraising events. To the many sponsors that have given so much already – all I can say is one big “Thank You” from the bottom of the town’s heart for all that you have given to many deserving families.
REMINDER: Household Hazardous Waste Collection
The Monroe County Department of Environmental Services (DES), the Town of Webster and the Town of Penfield has joined forces to hold an appointment-only Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) collection on Saturday, September 16, 2017. This collection will take place at the Webster Highway Department, 1005 Picture Parkway, from 7:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Most HHW (paint, flammables and other chemicals from home-use) is safe when used and stored properly. When they become unwanted and are disposed of improperly, these household wastes can become environmental hazards.
To ensure safety and reduce waiting times, appointments are required at all HHW collections. Appointments for this HHW collection will be accepted until September 15th. To schedule an appointment, Webster residents should call 872-1443 (Monday thru Thursday, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.); Penfield residents can call 340-8710, or go on-line to http://www.monroecounty.gov/hhw to schedule your appointment. This Household Hazardous Waste collection is open to all Monroe County residents. Waste from businesses will not be accepted.
If you have any questions about your town government, please feel free to contact me during regular business hours at (585) 872-7068; or email me anytime at firstname.lastname@example.org
