On Saturday, September 16, 2017 the Monroe County Department of Environmental Services (DES), the Town of Webster and the Town of Penfield joined forces to hold a Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) collection. This event was held at the Town of Webster Highway Department.
I recently received confirmation from DES that we served 530 residents and collected roughly 15.6 tons of hazardous material. This collection helped to ensure that these materials were disposed of properly and not enter our ecosystem through storm sewers or improper disposal into area landfills.
Many thanks to the residents who participated and to the employees of the Highway Department who assisted the DES with appointment scheduling and various collection day duties. This event was a record collection for the amount of residents served and material collected!
DON’T FORGET: Election Day is November 7th
Just a reminder that the County, Town and Judicial candidates will be on the election ballot this year on the first Tuesday in November (November 7th) for voter approval.
The prediction from the Board of Elections is that this year voter turnout will be very low. I would like to see Webster voters take an interest and turn out to vote, and beat the other towns in Monroe County in voter attendance if we just put a little effort into it.
Please Webster voters do your civic duty and vote on November 7th.
