Moments ago, Governor Andrew Cuomo declared a state of emergency for Monroe County (including the Town of Webster), due to flooding along the Lake Ontario shoreline.
The state of emergency allows the state more speed and flexibility in their response times to help municipalities in need. More equipment will be made available for use by multiple municipalities including: towers, hoses, generators, pumping equipment, and zodiac boats.
Additionally, Govenor Cuomo is creating a Lake Ontario response team, comprised of the National Guard, Monroe County Sheriff's Office, New York State Police, the Department of Homeland Security, and the DEC.
Sand bags are still available for residents by calling the Town of Webster's Highway Department at (585) 872-1443.
