Update from the Webster Police Department

The Webster Police Department is currently responding to numerous reports of larcenies to cars, stolen cars and a burglary (entry into a residence) in the Hatch Road, Bishops Lane, Knobel Drive area.

Thieves are targeting unlocked vehicles and stealing various items including house and car keys left inside unlocked vehicles.

Two days ago, the Webster Police Department arrested two people who were also targeting unlocked cars in the Maple Drive, Aria Lane, Heathland Circle area.

Officers are currently investigating whether these series of crimes are related. Officers are also collecting evidence that may help solve the current series of crimes.

**PLEASE** remove keys and other valuables from your car overnight. Lock your car, even when parked in your driveway overnight. Do not leave the keys to your home or car in your vehicle overnight. Lock your home, even when you are inside.

We understand that some people are reluctant to do this because they feel that Webster is a nice place to live and / or they shouldn't have to lock up their homes and cars overnight. We agree, Webster is a great place to live and we should be able to trust that our belongings will be safe in our driveways overnight.

There are some people out there, however, that will take advantage when they find cars and homes unsecured. Reduce the likelihood that your car and house will be targeted by thieves. Please, lock it up.

If you have any information about these crimes, please call 911 and ask to speak to a Webster Police Officer.
