Protecting Yourself from Ticks this Summer

Protecting Yourself from Ticks:
If you are venturing out this summer to our many parks and trails, please be aware that ticks are present in these environments.

The Friends of Webster Trails recommends the following tips:
1) Careful tick checks when coming in from the field.
2) Proper clothing while in a tick habitat. Clothing should be light in color to allow you to spot crawling ticks more easily. Wear closed-toed shoes, socks, long pants, and a long-sleeved shirt. Tuck pant legs into the socks and the shirt into the pants in order to slow crawling ticks.
3) Use repellants, according to manufacturer directions. Permethrin, DEET, Picaridin
