Drainage

Systems Maintenance

The Highway Department maintains more than:
  • 78 miles of creeks / streams
  • 108 retention / detention ponds
  • 1,100 miles of storm sewers
  • 3,600 catch basins
  • 260 lane miles/406 total lane miles
The town's responsibility is to keep water moving to mitigate the potential for flooding.
Blockages due to trees down in creeks and streams is the most common issue, especially
after wind events.

Erosion is a nature occurrence.  The town does not correct erosion issues unless is is
compromising a road or utilities, no exceptions.
