Webster Police Dept: Update on Stolen Cars

Webster Police Department Update: June 11, 2021

Our stolen vehicle issues continue.  We need your help.

Since our last post on this topic, we have had two more vehicles stolen.  In both cases, the victim vehicle is left unattended and running with the keys in the ignition.  The owner of the car leaves the car in a parking lot, (store or apartment complex) or in a street parking spot.  The suspect gets into the vehicle and drives away.

We are following all leads to identify the perpetrator or perpetrators.

Please be on the look out for the following and call 911 right away if you see someone loitering in parking lots or on sidewalks.  This person **may** be wearing a face covering of some sort and/or gloves.  We understand this is not particularly helpful since many folks are still wearing masks due to Covid concerns.

This pattern is concentrated in the Village, but there is a possibility of connections to crimes outside the Village of Webster.  The commonality with this pattern is unattended vehicles, left running with the keys in the ignition.

Please help us and yourself by turning your car off, taking your keys with you and locking your car when you go into a store or stop someplace for an errand.
